9 weeks

at 9 weeks in

At 9 weeks in I feel a little bit stalled at times.

Not losing weight is frustrating despite trying to stay focused on the bigger picture of the fitness goals.

I have been pleased with my fitness progress. Despite having a couple of injuries these past two weeks, I have continued to increase my intensity minutes. Last week, I had two days where I didn’t exercise at all but made up for it on the following days.

My injuries predictably were from going too hard too soon. I unwittingly chose an alomoves workout at intensity 3/4 and difficulty 3/4. (I should still be doing 1’s and 2’s). I felt so good at the time. Firing through it, but about half an hour post-workout I knew it was a mistake. Yep, I spent the next day barely moving (thighs, quads, the whole upper leg not happy).

Then there were my wrists. I suspect a little bit of extra downward dogs and planks was to blame as a rather familiar pain returned from years ago (TFCC tear). Thankfully it seems to have resolved itself with a little time and care.

I’m learning this week the necessity of varied exercise. I’ve added walks in as a regular, but have left out some of my stretching and wii fit time. I’m not feeling as balanced as a result. My back is cranky at me, and my knees a little stiffer. So, now I know this I am committed to keping up with the variety I need.

Core (not the killer stuff)
Stretches (stabilising)
Walking
Yoga (limited)
Other cardio
Some minor weights

While mostly walking should have been enough (I thought) it really wasn’t. I really did need something else. Now I know I can change what I do and continue to feel good with my body working optimally.
